I went to a Reach presentation day all about Heroes with my school (Frankston High) and at first I had no idea what it was all about. After about ten minutes I was captivated and inspired from all the stories being told. About half an hour in I was crying as I saw people from my school who I maybe could have paid more attention to cry as they share traumatic past experiences so openly and honestly it made me feel like a coward. It was a very emotional experience for me, and I feel like it changed my life. It was so amazing to hear about all the horrible things that have happened to other people, and when I think about all the problems I have, they seem silly and insignificant. When I get older I would love to get involved with Reach and help teenagers like myself change or improve their lives. The thing I really loved about the Heroes presentation was how everyone was so willing to share things about themselves that even some of their closest friends wouldn’t know. I cried so much. It made me feel better, though. Sometimes all you need is a good cry. Thank you so much to Marty and the crew for inspiring me to become a better person, and thank you to Jim Stynes for sharing his incredible journey with us.
