Today, I experienced my second Reach Foundation Year 12 program. I cannot even begin to comprehend the magnitude in which the Reach Foundation has helped me discover who I am.
The Reach Foundation School Programs have enabled me to learn that I am an unique person with my own story and that other people value who I am as a person – I never realised how big the capacity of respect that other people held for me.
So, I want to say thank you to the Crew at Reach, for challenging me to stand up on that chair in front of the class and sing; for making me verbalise what I believe in: It isn’t the sadness that defines me; it is the happiness in my life that defines me.
Thank you, a million times over!

Reach has given me a whole different perspective on life, its taught me to just believe in who i am and to go forward in life and for fill my dreams, some of the things people stand up and say is so strong and it sinks in and sometimes you will feel there pain. I think this was one of the best days i have had, it really brings out people’s confident and makes people stronger.

Today I attended as a Pastoral Care teacher for my Year 9 group at Brauer College Warrnambool, an amazing presentation by Jeremy and Lochie. It was inspiring, inspirational and emotionally charged.
That presentation was pitched perfectly for that age group and to see by the end, students in tears apologising for the hurt they had caused to others, and publicly thanking those special friends, was very moving.
I hope the Reach Foundation can continue to provide workshops that can change perceptions and heal past hurts the way I witnessed today.
Well done Jeremy and Lochie

Every time I hear the words “REACH FOUNDATION” I think back to the incredible affect it had on all of the members of our year level. I felt very fortunate after being given the chance to take part in this truly amazing foundation.
When our school went to Melbourne for a camp we were informed that at the end of it we would be attending a group session at Reach. At first a lot of the girls in my year did not know what to think about it, as all we had heard from kids who attended in previous years was that ‘you cried a lot!’ Expressing emotions wasn’t something that a lot of girl are comfortable doing in front of others, so it was definitely a major step out of our comfort zones.
By looking at body image and problems associated with women in the media, it was clear that this was a topic that majority of our year level had struggled with either some time or another. I think it is safe to say that after the session finished there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.
The foundation was able to bring the girls in our year a lot closer together and we bonded in a way I never imagined was possible. If the program had this affect on our school alone, I am sure I would be amazed to see the affect it has had on all of the schools involved. It is incredible when you imagine how two people were able to recognise that often the greatness in young people was hidden behind fear, anger or hurt, and dedicated a foundation to inspire every young person to believe in themselves and get the most out of life. The Reach Program is an amazing foundation and is definitely a major credit to not Jim Stynes (may he RIP) and Paul Currie, but also all of the people involved in making the program what it is today!
I would like to once again congratulate the Reach Foundation once again on their inspiring work and thank them for giving not only my school but thousand of Australian youth’s the opportunity to realise how great they are and how grow to and reach their full potential!
